Navigation Collection

Navigation tools were important to their owners as symbols of rank and expertise and as basic way-finding instruments. They are plentiful in maritime museums because they were always valued and were easily preserved. Our collections include mostly English and some American quadrants, sextants, telescopes and compasses. In addition the Museum has an unusual collection of navigation tools made by George Reynolds of Old Saybrook between 1930 and 1960 that represent the ancient tools of navigation.
