Painting CollectionPaintings of packet ships commanded by Valley ship-masters were collected by Tom Stevens and illustrate the important connections between the Valley and the port of New York. The small group of paintings included fragile water colors, period oils and a reverse oil on glass. A large group of River views were painted during the late twentieth century by Richard L. Brooks of Essex. They are used to interpret River commerce during the nineteenth century and the various landscapes of the upper Connecticut River.
